Frequently asked questions

How do I make an ICO file from a PNG?

Open the Image to ICO converter, drop your PNG, choose sizes (e.g. 16, 32, 48, 256) and click “Download ICO”. Transparency is preserved.

Are the ICO tools free?

Yes, completely free with no watermark and no account. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded?

No. All processing happens in your browser, so your images stay on your device. The tools even work offline once loaded.

What sizes should a favicon have?

A favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px, a 180 px apple-touch-icon and 192/512 px icons for the web app manifest. The Favicon Generator creates all of them.

Can I edit an existing .ico?

Yes. Open it in the Icon Editor (it imports the largest image) or use the ICO Viewer to extract every size as PNG.
