Frequently asked questions
How do I convert PNG to ICO on Windows without software?
Open this page, drop your PNG and click “Download ICO”. The file works for shortcuts, folders, apps (e.g. PyInstaller, Electron, Visual Studio) and favicons.
Will my PNG transparency survive?
Yes — every size keeps full 8-bit alpha. Legacy 1-bit masks are written too, so even very old programs show transparent corners.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG transparency is kept. Small sizes are written as 32-bit BMP with an alpha channel and the 256 px size as PNG, exactly like icons made by Windows tools.
What image size should I start with?
Use a square image of at least 256×256 px. Larger is fine — it is downscaled with high-quality resampling for each size.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like; “Download all (ZIP)” packs every converted icon into one archive.
Does it work for SVG logos?
Yes. SVGs are rasterized at high resolution first, so every icon size stays sharp.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no upload, so the only limit is your device memory. Images larger than 2048 px are reduced first to keep things fast.
