How to use

  1. Pick a background: transparent or a solid color, square, rounded or circle.
  2. Add text (fonts incl. Korean, outline, shadow), import an image, or draw with the pen, shapes and paint bucket.
  3. Move layers by dragging or with the arrow keys (Shift = 10 px). Use the center crosshair (Ctrl+;) to line things up.
  4. Check the actual-size previews, choose the ICO sizes and click “Export ICO”. Save the project to keep it editable.

Frequently asked questions

Is this icon editor really free?

Yes. All features are free and there is no watermark or account. The site is supported by ads.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Images, fonts and exports are processed with JavaScript and Canvas inside your browser. Nothing is sent to us.

Which sizes should a Windows .ico contain?

For desktop apps include 16, 24, 32, 48 and 256 px (64 is a nice extra). The “Windows recommended” preset selects 256, 64, 48, 32, 24 and 16.

Can I edit my icon later?

Yes. “Save project” downloads a .json file that keeps every layer and text editable. You can also save a .micon file for the Make ICO desktop app.

Why does my text look blurry at 16×16?

At tiny sizes there are only a few pixels per letter. Use one or two bold characters, a high-contrast color, and check the actual-size preview before exporting.
